Traditional Industries Renewed, Emerging Industries Sprint Ahead – Longquan Enterprises Secure New Markets Through Intellectual Property

“The sharpness of blades makes safety a major concern for household consumers. Our anti-detachment invention solves this issue—for example, this Tang-style sword of mine features a button-activated anti-detachment function, ensuring stability in any placement scenario.” Yesterday, Zeng Baodong, General Manager of Longquan Zengshi Sword & Blade Co., Ltd., demonstrated one of the company’s patented products to visitors.

Zengshi Sword & Blade is an enterprise dedicated to preserving and developing traditional sword-forging techniques, specializing in Qin swords, Han swords, Tang swords, and other series, with products combining practicality and artistic value. In recent years, after expanding into producing blades for films and animations, the company recognized the importance of intellectual property (IP), launching over ten innovative products annually to enhance its independent innovation capabilities.

“Patents are not just protective barriers for innovation—they’re also critical tools to deter imitation and safeguard brands. In the internet era, we must focus on inventing based on consumer needs while prioritizing IP management and protection,” Zeng explained. After developing the anti-detachment sword, he immediately filed for a patent and obtained certification. It has since become a flagship and best-selling product.

In recent years, Longquan has centered its efforts on patent industrialization, enhancing the efficiency of patent supply for key industries by fostering high-value patents and expediting approvals for critical sectors. Simultaneously, it adopted a “business orders, government delivers” service model, helping companies identify IP development directions and resolve challenges through “one-on-one” tailored support. In 2024, Longquan granted 830 patents, including 72 inventions (464 cumulative inventions), with 18.4 invention patents per 10,000 people. IP pledge financing reached 1 billion yuan, while 456 patents were licensed or transferred, accelerating the renewal of traditional industries and the growth of emerging sectors.

Zhejiang Shuolang Electromechanical Parts Co., Ltd., a high-tech enterprise specializing in automotive air-conditioning blowers, condenser fans, and control panels, successfully patented an innovative brushless permanent magnet fan. This breakthrough addresses performance, reliability, and signal distortion issues, ensuring stable and precise motor operation. Huang Yibo, the company’s general manager, noted that with IP empowerment, monthly electromechanical output now reaches 80,000 units, including 6,000–8,000 brushless motors. If production lines scale smoothly, monthly capacity could rise to 20,000–25,000 units, achieving an annual output of ~250,000 units.

Moving forward, Longquan will deepen its IP strategy, leveraging industries like auto parts, celadon/sword craftsmanship, and bamboo/wood processing to bolster IP cultivation and utilization. It will also strengthen policy incentives, explore IP-finance integration mechanisms, and refine subsidy systems to comprehensively advance corporate IP creation, application, protection, and management.
